Burra Skate Park

In 2018 Council and Goyder YAC undertook community consultation with local children and young people to determine what was needed to upgrade the Burra Skate Park bowl. Over 100 young people provided valuable feedback into the innovative concept design that was developed.

The 2021 Burra Skate Park upgrade was finally opened on the 30th May 2021 and now includes an extension to the original skate ramp which was designed and created by skate park specialists Grind Projects, based on feedback from local skate and scooter riders in 2018.

The new skate park has new fun box, ledges, curb and blends into the old park.

The site also includes a dirt pump track for bike users of all ages to ride as well as a nature play space which has been developed by nature play specialist “Climbing Tree”.

As a result in 2019 the Council received $232,500 from the State Government through the Open Spaces and Places Grant, which was matched dollar for dollar by the Regional Council of Goyder. AGL Australia also contributed $20,000 through their community fund with an extra $10,000 provided by Goyder YAC for the development of a nature play space.

To create a family friendly place the skate park also includes two shelters, BBQs, water fountains and seating throughout the park. The park also includes a ramp down to the skate park which ensures disabled access.

The Burra Skate Park is a great space for young people to come together to skate, ride, be active, hang out and connect with others. It is also a great outdoor space for children’s parties and a day out for families.

The Burra Skate Park is located on Market Street, BURRA (opposite the Burra Town Hall and Art Gallery) and sits along the banks of the Burra Creek.
