Regional Council of Goyder recognises and values the important role that events and festivals play within our community.
All events that are held on Council land, footpaths, public spaces and roads must gain council approval prior to the event being held. To assist event organisers in the planning of events, Council has developed a suite of event management forms and templates.
Please note these forms are not applicable to properties that are under lease. It is the responsibility of the lessee to manage this process.
If you have any queries, or require further clarification please contact Marie O’Dea (Tourism & Events Manager) on

When organising an event, whether it’s a small indoor meeting, or a bigger outdoor community event, there are some things to consider that will make our event enjoyable for everyone;
Accessible & Inclusive Events – Have you considered how your event is accessible & inclusive? Here are some considerations that can help to accommodate people with disability. https://inclusive.sa.gov.au/resources/state-authority-resources/accessible-and-inclusive-community-events#access-events
Promoting your Event – if you are planning a community event and would like Council to promote the event, please email a copy of your event flyer to council@goyder.sa.gov.au where it will be published in Councils newsletter, website, facebook page, and placed on community noticeboards.
Alcohol – where alcohol is to be sold, supplied or consumed, you may be required to obtain a Short Term Liquor Licence. https://www.sa.gov.au/topics/business-and-trade/liquor/apply/short-term
Food – Food providers are required to have a Food Business Notification Number https://www.goyder.sa.gov.au/community/foodsafety
Food handlers must complete the online food safety training (its free, and takes approx. 10 minutes). Upon completion, submit a copy the certificate with your event application form. Access the training here https://dofoodsafely.health.vic.gov.au/index.php/en
Safework SA – event organisers are required to register their event with Safework SA for events that have any of the following:
