Expect delays on the Thiele Hwy between Kapunda and Eudunda from Wednesday, 17 April 2024 until early 2025, weather permitting. Operating hours will be from 7am-5pm, Monday to Saturday. Some Sunday work may be required.

Affected businesses must have the new requirements in place by December 2023.

Food Business Notification Form

The proprietor of a business must notify Council of the food business before the business commences.

Download a Business Notification Form and return the completed form to council@goyder.sa.gov.au for processing.

Food Premise Inspections

Environmental Health Officer's are dedicated to providing food handlers with advice and education for compliance with the Food Safety Standards. Food businesses are inspected and charged in line with the Food Act 2001 Regulations.

Environmental Health Officer's use the Australian Food Safety Assessment for inspecting food premises, which covers the following food activities:

  • Premises Hygiene
  • Health and Hygiene
  • Packaging
  • Display
  • Processing
  • Storage
  • Transportation / Distribution

Council have recently approved the Food Inspection Policy

This Food Inspection Policy should be read in conjunction with the Fees & Charges Register

Free Online Food Safety Training

The Regional Council of Goyder takes food hygiene within our region very seriously. 'Do Food Safely' is a free non-accredited, online learning program provided by the Department of Health and Human Services Victoria and proudly supported by South Australia Health.

DoFoodSafely is designed to enable you to understand how to safely work with, and handle, food in commercial settings.

By reading through the information in the seven topics below, you will be ready to undertake the assessment quiz and gain your DoFoodSafely Certificate of Completion – a certificate that is well-respected by the food industry across Australia.

You can access the training here.

Upon completion please send a copy of your certificate to council@goyder.sa.gov.au for it to be registered on Councils digital records management system.

Alternatively group community sessions can be arranged with the Environmental Health Officer. To enquire please email council@goyder.sa.gov.au
