Stop The Flu Before it Stops You!

Published 4th May 2023
Why have the flu vaccine? The flu vaccine helps your body to develop immunity without you getting the flu. The flu vaccine contains several inactivated strains to protect against the most commonly circulating flu viruses each year.
Free flu vaccinations are available for people from six months of age who are at higher risk from getting very sick from the flu.
You can get a free flu vaccination if you are:
▪Pregnant
▪Aged 65 years or older
▪An Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person
▪A person with certain underlying medical conditions
▪Experiencing homelessness.
All children aged 6 months to under 5 years of age can also get vaccinated free.
The free flu vaccine is available through participating GPs, community health centres and Aboriginal health centres.
