COVID-19

Due to the evolving situation surrounding COVID-19 and the announcements by Federal and State Government regarding public health and safety, Council aims to support the community by providing information regarding the impacts it has on council services and community facilities.

We also aim to provide support information and access to services where possible so that our communities can connect with businesses and agencies more easily.

We will communicate through a variety of methods such as the Council website, face book, signage at relevant Council sites, community newsletters, local newspapers and direct contact to residents, relevant organisations and community groups when necessary.

Supporting Businesses in our community

Regional Council of Goyder continues to monitor developments and receive advice from all tiers of government and expert stakeholders following government announcements regarding the closure of non-essential services to combat coronavirus.

Council is committed to supporting local businesses during this time and providing you with important information, resources and opportunities to keep you informed, inspired, focused and resilient.

Supporting our community especially our more vulnerable residents

The Regional Council of Goyder's greatest concern remains the health and safety of our community, especially those most at risk. Council encourages people not to lose their community spirit but to stay in touch with each other while observing the sanctioned health advice, which is updated regularly for everyone’s safety.

During times of crisis it is the vulnerable members of our community who are often most impacted, including the elderly and people with disabilities.

Council is asking all members of the Goyder community to check in on anyone who is living alone, is elderly or who has special needs. It is everyone’s responsibility to make sure vulnerable neighbours, friends and family are well taken care.

We encourage our community to ‘STAY SAFE’ and continue to follow guidelines about ‘social distancing’, shaking hands and hand washing and shopping responsibly. We urge everyone to take responsible steps to minimise the spread of this new virus, while continuing to support your local businesses and communities.

The Regional Council of Goyder is seeking to minimise risk to the Goyder community following the subsequent declaration by the World Health Organisation of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

Many of our Goyder residents are in high risk groups and given the uncertainty Council is taking a risk minimisation approach.

For daily updates the South Australian Local Government has asked that you please refer to State Government Website

The outbreak of COVID-19 and latest medical advice is being updated regularly by the Commonwealth Department of Health and we recommend that our community uses this resource to remain aware of developments and official reports.

In Australia, the people most at risk of contracting COVID-19 are those who have recently been to high-risk countries or regions, and people who have been in close contact with someone with a confirmed case of the COVID-19 illness.

For more information, tips, and fact sheets on COVID-19 we recommend that the community reference the Commonwealth Department of Health

COVID-19 advice for multicultural communities

The SA Health webpage for multicultural communities has had a refresh! We’ve added new translated resources about the COVID-19 vaccines, including an SA Health brochure available to download in 35 languages.

You can access all of the available information on the SA Health website in your language of choice.

Go to www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/COVIDmulticultural

At the top of the page  on the right hand side click language and it will provide a drop down list of all available languages.

Once you have made your selection the website will change to the language that you have selected.

You will then have access to an array of fact sheets in your language.

Fact sheets include information on:
  • contract tracing
  • community return
  • FAQ’s
