Council’s response to COVID-19
The Regional Council of Goyder is seeking to minimise risk to the Goyder community following the subsequent declaration by the World Health Organisation of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
The cancellation and postponement of a number of community events and programs will continue to be in place until further advice is received from the Commonwealth Department of Health. Further updates will be provided with programs, events and activities recommencing as soon as it is safe to do so.
Many of our Goyder residents are in high risk groups and given the uncertainty Council is taking a risk minimisation approach.
The outbreak of COVID-19 and latest medical advice is being updated regularly by the Commonwealth Department of Health and we recommend that our community uses this resource to remain aware of developments and official reports.
In Australia, the people most at risk of contracting COVID-19 are those who have recently been to high-risk countries or regions, and people who have been in close contact with someone with a confirmed case of the COVID-19 illness.
As detailed by the Commonwealth Department of Health, the symptoms of COVID-19 may include fever, flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat and fatigue, and shortness of breath. Some people will recover easily, and others may get sick very quickly. If you become unwell and think you may have symptoms of COVID-19, seek medical attention.
For more information, tips, and fact sheets on COVID-19 we recommend that the community reference the Commonwealth Department of Health
