The $5.7 million package encompasses five different programs each targeting a different need in the industry.
There are two direct financial support packages: the Small Tourism Business Grant Fund and the Regional Events Grant Fund.
The Small Tourism Business Grant Fund will provide direct funding to eligible tourism businesses to help them with lack of revenue as a direct result of COVID-19. The Regional Events Grant Fund will provide reimbursement to event organisers for non-recoverable costs incurred from forced regional and community event cancellation or postponement due to COVID-19.
The package also includes a digital training course targeting the tourism sector for those who wish to use this time to increase their digital presence and professionalism with a view to recovery. There is also immediate funding for regional tourism organisations to enable them to maintain their brand and viability. The final element of the package is a project focussed on building resilience amongst the industry.
For details, including how to register for grants, please see the Tourism Response Portal on tourism.sa.gov.au. If you have any questions about the package or your eligibility, you may contact my team at firstname.lastname@example.org who will do everything they can to assist.
We’re doing everything we can to support our state’s 18,000 tourism businesses to get through this pandemic and to be in the strongest possible position to be able to rebound as soon as it is safe to travel again.
We are providing practical on-the-ground support for tourism businesses, building resiliency and upskilling operators to strengthen South Australian businesses and support them for the future.
At the same time, my team is working hard to continue promoting South Australia and all that you do – ready and waiting for when we can all go on holidays again. Through our digital channels, we are giving people sitting at home lots of ideas and inspiration, and a new online campaign – SATV – will be launched in line with this next week, which will showcase South Australia to living rooms right across the state.
