Employment with Council

General Information

Situated in the Mid North of South Australia - an area, steeped in history and adjacent to the wine regions of the Clare and Barossa Valleys - the Regional Council of Goyder (named after George Goyder whose renowned Goyder's Line traverses the Council area) extends from just above Terowie in the north to below Eudunda in the south.

Our location on the Barrier Highway, an easy 2 1/2 hour drive from Adelaide, provides access to the major centres to the north and west of the State and also easy access via the Goyder Highway to the Riverland and Victoria.

The region is an extremely productive agricultural and pastoral region, renowned for its cereal crops and merino wool, and it is also an important area for dairy and beef cattle, and piggery and chicken farms. More recently established industries include viticulture and locally grown and produced food products. Manufacturing interests are increasingly entering the area and one of the mainstays of the Goyder economy is tourism.

There are medical facilities and a hospital, and preschool, primary and high schools in both the main centres, Burra and Eudunda. The Goyder region provides a wide diversity of attractions which, together with the friendliness and old fashioned service for which country towns are renowned, offers an excellent lifestyle.

Council's principal office is at Burra and a branch office  is located at Eudunda. Council employs approximately of 55 people across its Administration and Technical Services departments.
