
Development - HeritageHeritage Areas and PlacesThe Regional Council of Goyder has, within its region, places and areas of significant heritage value. The Australian Heritage Commission maintains a Register of the National Estate. Included in that Register is the Town of Burra and 39 individual sites. Heritage South Australia maintains a Register of State Heritage Places. Included in that Register is the Town of Burra and over 70 individual sites. There are also individual sites on the Register scattered around the Goyder district. Heritage AdvisorThe primary role of the Heritage Advisor is to advise owners of properties which are listed on the Register of State Heritage Places on techniques for the proper maintenance, conservation and development of their properties and to advise Council when Council is assessing Development Applications relating to items on the Register. Pending the outcome of the State Government budget decisions we currently do not have the services of a Heritage Advisor. Goyder Heritage FundCouncil has established this regional Heritage Fund, which works on the basis of matching contributions from the State Heritage Fund and Council, to assist owners of State Heritage listed properties in the Goyder Council area. To be eligible, you must be an owner of a State Heritage listed property within the Goyder Council area or a property within and contributing to the State Heritage Area. Community groups, church bodies and individuals can apply. Examples of typical eligible projects include external painting, stone wall repair, repairs to roofing and gutters, storm water drainage and repairs to external timber. Anyone wishing to access the Fund is strongly advised to make an appointment to see the Council's Heritage Advisor, before lodging an application. Guidelines describing eligibility criteria, and application forms, can be obtained from the Council offices or you can download the application form and guidelines from Council's website. |
